Sophie loved making Christmas cookies this year. In fact, she loved pretty much everything about Christmas. Although she was initially afraid of Santa when we first saw him, she really warmed up. "Mommy, I love Santa," she told me over and over.
The cookies were an interesting project. She loves to bake, stirring flour with her hands being her favorite part. Flour dust flying, lots of yelling, good times. Rolling out the dough, also great fun, and cutting out the shapes with cookie cutter, woo hoooo! She liked moons and teddy bears the best. Then, the decorations, awesome! Once I got distracted and she poured an entire container on one poor cookie, you know a little kid at our holiday party ate that cookie and went on a sugar rampage.
Note: this is not a project to take on if you are in a rush or feeling in any way irritable because the manic, crazy factor is high and you must be on your toes or your whole kitchen will be covered in flour dust, balls of dough will fly, or any number of wild and exiting and/or annoying possibilities.
